Alabama to Play Tennessee in SEC Tournament First Round

TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama will play the University of Tennessee in the first round of the 2004 Southeastern Conference Men's Basketball tournament. Alabama, which finished as the third seed in the SEC Western Division, and Tennessee, which finished sixth in the Eastern Division, meet at 8:45 CT/9:45 p.m. ET in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Thursday night.
Alabama brings a 16-11 overall and 8-8 SEC regular season record into the game while Tennessee finished the regular season 15-12 overall and 7-9 in league play.
The winner of Thursday night's game will play the East Division's two seed, Florida, at 8:45 CT/9:45 p.m. ET on Friday, March 12.
Alabama's bracket also finds Ole Miss (West #5) playing Vanderbilt (East #4) at 6:30 CT/7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. The winner of that game gets SEC regular season champion and Western Division #1 seed Mississippi State on Friday night at that same time.
In the top half of the bracket, Auburn (West #4) and Georgia (East #5) open the tournament at noon CT/1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday. That winner plays East Division champions Kentucky at the same time on Friday. And at 2:15 CT/3:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, Arkansas (West #6) plays South Carolina (East #3). That winner meets LSU (West #2) on Friday.
Alabama and Tennessee played one another in Tuscaloosa on Valentine's Day. Alabama won the game 83-70.
