Women's Track & Field Sends Two to NCAA Championships

The Alabama women's track and field team is sending two athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships held this weekend on the Arkansas campus.
Sophomores Aymara Albury and Beau Walker will both make their NCAA Championship debut. Albury will compete in the shot put while Walker will run the 60-meter hurdles and the 200m dash.
Albury broke the school record in the shot at the Florida Fast Times meet last weekend with a throw of 53 feet 7.75 inches. She is seeded 14th at the NCAA Championships. Competition in the shot put will be Saturday (March 13) starting around 4:30 p.m.
Walker posted career best times in both the 60m hurdles and 200m dash to qualify for nationals, where she is seeded 15th and 16th respectively. She is seeded She ran an 8.22 in the hurdles at the Iowa State Classic and a 23.68 in the 200m at the SEC Championships. She is tied for third all-time for the Tide in the hurdles and stands fourth in the 200m dash. Preliminaries of the hurdles gets underway Friday at approximately 5:00 pm while the 200m dash prelims start around 7:15 p.m.
The championships, held in the Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, will feature 270 women and will run March 12-13.
