Tide Men's Track Competes at Meyo Invitational

The University of Alabama men's track and field team traveled to South Bend, Indiana this weekend for the prestigious Meyo Invitational and again continued to show improvement as several athletes posted personal bests and Top 10 marks in school history.
Sophomore Chauncey Harris continued his success in the sprints, running a time of 6.77 in the 60m sprint, and posting a third place finish behind the top two sprinters in the country.
Freshman Alex Korir posted a time of 14:26.13 in the 5k, a personal best and the ninth fastest time in school history.
Freshman Steven Boozer also moved up in the school's Top 10 weight throw category, throwing a distance of 52'08.00", the third longest throw in Alabama track and field history.
Also recording personal bests were freshman Keith Baker in the 60m hurdles (8.50), junior Lem Clayborn in the 400m (48.62) and sophomore Josphat Waweru in the 3k (8:21.53).
"I see us continuing to get better each and every week," said Alabama head coach Harvey Glance. "We've definitely got several good things happening here and we look forward to it carrying over next weekend in Arkansas."
The Tide will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas this weekend for the Tyson Invite, the team's final tune-up before the 2004 SEC Indoor Championships in Lexington, Kentucky February 28-29.
