TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama women's basketball team (10-10, 2-5 SEC) plays the first of its back-to-back home games this week on Thursday night at 7 p.m. against No. 14 LSU (17-3, 5-1 SEC).
The Crimson Tide, facing its second straight nationally-ranked opponent, is looking to snap its current five-game losing skid. Alabama is coming off a heartbreaking 71-68 loss on Sunday afternoon at Georgia. While Bama hopes to snap one streak, they will also try to continue another against the Lady Tigers having won the last nine meetings with LSU played in Tuscaloosa.
LSU has won 16 of its last 17 games including an 82-62 victory against South Carolina this past Sunday. The Lady Tigers are in second place in the SEC and feature one of the league's most aggressive defenses, as they lead the conference in turnover margin. Senior point guard Temeka Johnson (11.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 7.8 apg) and sophomore standout Seimone Augustus (17.7 ppg, 6.1 rpg) are the key performers for LSU.
Following Thursday's game with LSU, Alabama continues its home stand on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. versus a talented Vanderbilt squad.
