Spring is officially here, for the University of Alabama women’s soccer team that is.
Head Coach Don Staley and his team heads to Memphis, Tennessee to kick off its spring season and fans will get their first look at the team without the departed seniors from 2003.
“Memphis is one of my favorite places for an early spring tournament,” said Staley. “There are a lot of competitive teams and several young teams to look at from a recruiting standpoint. This is will also be a good opportunity to get out there and see what we have. This team has a lot of big shoes to fill. With graduation and injuries our backline is decimated and we’re going to end up having to mix and match and play a lot of kids out of position.”
Staley and his charges will play three games in the GSC/Fury Showcase Tournament beginning with a Saturday match-up against Memphis at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. match against the Diadora Impact U17 team. Bama will close out the tournament on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Japan College. All matches will be played at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex
