The Gamecocks were 32-26 last year, their final season in the Atlantic Sun Conference. JSU posted a 19-14 record in the A-Sun, good for a third place finish.

Coach Jim Case brings a veteran team into the 2004 season, hoping to build off last year's success.
Five position players return, including two infielders, two outfielders and one catcher.
Senior Matt Ruckdeschel (.328, 0 HR, 30 RBI) and sophomore Shundell Russaw (.269, HR, 15 RBI) are back in the outfield.
