
Crimson Tide Pitcher Named SEC Pitcher of the Week

The SEC has announced that University of Alabama pitcher Erin Wright has been named the SEC Pitcher of the Week.
Wright, who was named to the Bama Bash! all-tournament team over the weekend, posted a 2-0 record with a 0.58 ERA and allowed only three hits in 12 innings limiting the opposition to a .081 batting average.
“Erin came into her senior season determined to improve. She said her goal was to have fun and we’ve learned that to her having fun means winning,” said Alabama Head Coach Patrick Murphy.
For Wright a native of Gardendale, Alabama, it is her second time garnering the award, being named Pitcher of the Week in the 2002 season, her sophomore year. It is the 24th time an Alabama player has been name the SEC Pitcher/Player of the Week, which is tops in the conference.
Wright and the Crimson Tide will be in action this weekend at the Palm Springs Classic in Palm Springs, California where they will face some of the toughest competition in the world which includes the USA Olympic team.
