Heffner Named to AVCA All-South Region Volleyball Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second consecutive year, University of Alabama volleyball player Erin Heffner was named a first-team member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-South Region squad.

Heffner, an outside hitter from Ft. Wayne, Ind., is just the third player in Alabama history to garner AVCA All-Region honors. She also joins former UA standout Michelle Green (1999, 2000) as the only Tide players to twice earn the recognition. Heffner led the Southeastern Conference in kills per game for the second straight year this season and also finished her Bama career as the program’s all-time kill leader and first member of the 2,000 Kill Club.

“This is a great individual honor for Erin,” said UA head coach Judy Green. “She was clearly one of the best volleyball players in our region this season and this honor is well-deserved. We are extremely proud of the season and career that Erin had at Alabama.”

A four-time All-SEC standout for the Tide, Heffner finished her Alabama career this season ranked among the program’s leaders in nearly every statistical category. Her career total of 2,090 kills ranked as the third most in SEC volleyball history. In addition, she was also a three-time Academic All-SEC performer and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors this year.

With her selection to the first-team all-region squad, Heffner will now be put into the pool of players to be considered for AVCA All-American accolades. Last year, Heffner earned honorable mention All-American honors.
