TUSCALOOSA - The Sporting News has named the University of Alabama's Kennedy Winston its National Player of the Week for November 28 through December 4 compliments of back-to-back double doubles.
The junior forward from Prichard had 10 rebounds and scored 33 points Saturday night, making the winning jump shot to lift Alabama to a 102-101 three overtime road win at 2004 NCAA tournament team Charlotte. The 33 points were Winston's career high, bettering the 31 he scored last season at then top five ranked Mississippi State. Earlier in the week in Tuscaloosa Winston scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds in Alabama's 114-77 win against 2004 NCAA tournament team East Tennessee State on December 1.
