A few spots still remain for this weekend’s NFCA Coaches College which will be held on campus here at The University of Alabama.
One of just six Division I schools and the lone SEC school selected, Alabama will host Course 404 - Teaching Solid Team Defense and Strategy. The course will be offered Nov. 12-14 at Alston Hall on the Tuscaloosa campus
Participants enrolled in the course will learn how to teach players to defense hits, bunts, slaps and steals, as well as how to execute relays, pickoffs and rundowns.
The course will also provide an in-depth analysis of various defensive sets and how to select the appropriate set for a variety of game situations. Participants will also receive assistance in identifying and developing a personal defensive philosophy and developing strategic insight.
The instructors for the course include Alabama head coach Pat Murphy, Nebraska head coach Rhonda Revelle and former Northwestern coach and NFCC director Sharon Drysdale.
“We are very excited to have two excellent teachers coming to Tuscaloosa,” said Murphy. “Sharon Drysdale is an NFCA Hall of Famer who is one of the most intelligent coaches I have ever met and Rhonda Revelle from Nebraska consistently produces NCAA championship teams. I am looking forward to learning a lot from both of these outstanding coaches. The entire weekend is devoted to learning more about the defensive side of softball.”
The cost of the three-day course is $225 for NFCA members and $250 for non-NFCA members. Participants can save $25 by registering at least 14 days in advance. For more information, coaches can contact the NFCA at 662.320.2155 or Crimson Tide head coach Pat Murphy at 205.348.4455.
