TUSCALOOSA - A friendly scrimmage turned into a great game as the Crimson defeated the White, 79-78 in double overtime, in the Alabama men's basketball intrasquad game Saturday night at Coleman Coliseum.
The White squad led at half before the Crimson squad came back and sent the game into overtime tied at 69. Both teams scored six points in the first overtime and Kennedy Winston of the White missed a last second shot in the second overtime giving the Crimson a one point victory.
"I think it was good that the game ended up being a great game," said Alabama Head Coach Mark Gottfried. "It made them play all the way to the wire and I like that."
Junior forward Chuck Davis of the Crimson squad led all scorers with 27 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Senior guard Earnest Shelton led the White squad with 25 points and added five assists and four steals. Shelton was 10-of-20 from the field including five-of-11 from three-point range.
