Alabama Women's Tennis Wins Nine Matches in Two Days

In the first two days of competition at the San Diego Fall Invitational, the University of Alabama women’s tennis team won nine matches.
“It’s good to see a lot of different teams and players,” said Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz. “We could have played with a little more energy and purpose, but we are identifying what we need to work on as we move into the Spring season.”
Junior transfer Melissa Day has been a bright spot for the Crimson Tide this weekend. So far Day has won three of her five matches, including a 2-1 singles record and a 1-1 doubles record. On the first day of competition, Day disposed of both singles opponents easily, winning 6-1, 6-1 in both matches. Today she dropped a hard fought match to Dita Hauerlandova of San Diego State, 6-7 (5-7), 2-6.
Melissa Minor has also won two of her three singles matches. Friday Minor split, winning her first match but dropping her second. Saturday she rebounded to defeat Alesya Vidov of San Diego State, 6-2, 6-1.
Each member of the team will compete in one singles and one doubles match Sunday morning. Complete results of the first two days are as follows:
