TUSCALOOSA – The dream of having one of the finest golf facilities in the country is almost reality for the Crimson Tide men’s and women’s golf team. The Jerry Pate Center is nearing completion at Ol’ Colony Club in Tuscaloosa. The facility will be finished within the next two weeks. Once the facility is complete and ready, Alabama will hold a dedication ceremony for the building with Pate in attendance. Pate, whose design team is responsible for the Ol’ Colony course and center, is a University of Alabama graduate. A U.S. Amateur champion following his senior season on Alabama’s golf team, he went on to great success on the PGA Tour with wins that included the 1976 U.S. Open. He’s currently playing on the PGA’s Champions’ Tour.
The University is honoring Pate by naming its new home facility after him. The Jerry Pate Center is a 6,000 square foot facility. It includes office space for Alabama’s coaches, a teaching area and locker rooms for the Tide men’s and women’s teams, among its amenities.
