GAMEDAY NOTES:
- Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
- The Coca-Cola Kickoff on the Quad begins this Saturday at 2 p.m.
- David Palmer (1991-93) will be on campus this weekend and will run out the game ball prior to Saturday's game. A first-team All-America selection in 1993, Palmer finished third in the Heisman Trophy ballotting. As a junior (1993), Palmer set UA records for most yards in a season (1,000) and most career receptions (61). He also had 217 receiving yards against Vanderbilt to set the single-game mark.
- Palmer will not be available at the Alabama Power Company Legends Autograph on Saturday.
- The Crimson Tide gymnastics team will appear in the Mayfield Dairy team tent from 4:15-5:00 p.m.
- At halftime, Alabama will honor its 2002-03 individual national champions. The winners are Lane Bassham (swimming, 3-meter diving), Ashley Miles (gymnastics (vault and floor exercise) and Jeana Rice (gymnastics, all-around).
- Rice will also receive the 2002-03 Honda Award, presented annually to the nation's top collegiate gymnast.
KICKOFF ON THE QUAD:
Come out to the Quad three hours before UA home football games to experience Kickoff on the Quad, UA's "official tailgate party." Kickoff on the Quad festivities include a variety of food vendors, an interactive game area, and the Legends Autograph tent. Fans can also see Eli Gold and Kenny Stabler at the Crimson Tide Sports Network pregame show site and browse Crimson Tide clothing and souvenirs from the Supe Store. Then, join the Million Dollar Band for the Elephant Stomp to the stadium, which begins about an hour before the game.
TELEVISION INFORMATION:
The Alabama-South Carolina football game scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2 will kickoff at 5 p.m. (CT) and will be televised by espn2.
GAME DAY ACTIVITIES
*The Coca-Cola inflatables will again be present on the Quad at 2 p.m. with their usual activities of throwing a football, kicking at mock goal posts and diving for the goal line with bungees attached. In addition to sampling of Coke products, free temporary, stick-on Big Al tattoos and shakers will be distributed while supplies last.
*Eli Gold, Ken Stabler and Tom Roberts host the Jeep pre-game radio show on the Crimson Tide Sports Network from the stage in the shadow of Denny Chimes starting at 3 p.m.
YELL CREW TO 'PAINT THE CROWD CRIMSON'
The Alabama Yell Crew, the official student pep organization for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, will "Paint the Crowd Crimson" this Saturday. Each fan is encouraged to wear Crimson to this week's Crimson Tide football game against the University of South Carolina Gamecocks in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Alabama Yell Crew is trying to make Bryant-Denny Stadium the loudest, most intimidating stadium in college football by promoting a sense of unity amongst all Alabama fans in attendance this weekend.
