Strength & Conditioning Coach

Rocky Colburn, a 1985 UA graduate, will return as the Tide’s head strength and conditioning coach.
Colburn joins the Tide after seven years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Atlanta Falcons.
“Rocky brings lots of experience to our coaching staff,” Shula said, “and he is a personal friend. We feel our team will benefit greatly from his experience.”
“It is an honor to be coming back,” Colburn said. “I have many wonderful memories of my time at The University, and my family and I look forward to returning to Tuscaloosa.”
A coaching veteran of more than 15 years, Colburn’s diverse coaching resume has also included successful stops at the high school and collegiate level. In his role with the Falcons, Colburn assisted Al Miller, a former Tide strength coach, with all facets of the team's strength and conditioning program.
Colburn made the switch to the professional ranks after serving as the head football coach at Bibb County High School in Centreville, Ala., for four years.
A native of Cantonment, Fla., Colburn was the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Alabama from 1987-92. He also coached one year at Samford.
As a player, Colburn was an academic All-SEC defensive back for the Crimson Tide under legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant from 1981-82 and Ray Perkins in 1983.
He and his wife, Donna, a Birmingham native, have four sons, Luke, Riley, Ted and Jake.
