The Alabama Swimming and Diving teams will close out their regular season this Friday (Jan. 30) against Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. starting at 4 p.m. ET.
The Crimson Tide men (6-3) have been bolstered over the second half of the season by the emergence of several key freshmen, including freestyler Igor Erhartic, who has won the 200 freestyle in his last two outings, and Tim Hansen, one of the SEC's top 400 IMers.
Sophomores Darren Erasmus and J.T. Jones have also made some noise as of late, at different ends of the distance spectrum. Erasmus, a sprinter, ranks in the league's top 10 in the 100 freestyle while Jones stands in the same company in the 1000 freestyle.
The Alabama women (5-4) are led by senior diver Lane Bassham who is undefeated this season off both the one and three-meter boards. Rookie Nicole Weatherman has also made her presence felt, figuring among the Tide's best distance swimmers ever as a freshman.
