Fan Voting Begins for 10th Anniversary All-Wells Team

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of head coach Jim Wells at Alabama!

Wells, who was hired on June 4, 1994, has taken the Crimson Tide baseball program to new heights, with three College World Series appearances (1996, 1997, 1999), eight NCAA Regional appearances (1995-96-97-98-99-00-02-03), one Southeastern Conference Championship (1996) and an SEC record-tying six SEC Tournament championships (1995-96-97-99-02-03), including the last two in a row.
The Alabama head coach has compiled a 409-176 (.699) record in his first nine years with the school and overall has forged a 601-265 (.694) record in his 14 years at Northwestern State and Alabama.
Now in his 10th season with the Crimson Tide, Wells' accomplishments will be honored in a season-long celebration, beginning with today's announcement of the selection process of the "All-Jim Wells Baseball Team."
Beginning today, Alabama fans will have the opportunity to go to the school's official athletic department web site (http://www.rolltide.com/) and vote for their favorite players in the Wells era (1994-2003). Players will be listed by position and fans will have the opportunity to select the members of this 10th anniversary team at Alabama.
Fan voting begins, Thursday, Jan. 15 and concludes Friday, Feb. 6, 2004. The All-Jim Wells Team be announced Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Alabama GrandSlammers preseason barbecue, which will be held in the Scholarship Room at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
During each Saturday SEC home game, members of the All-Jim Wells Team will return to Sewell-Thomas Stadium to sign autographs in the ScreenTech novelty stand prior to each game. Plus, the players honored will be recognized prior to each Saturday SEC home game and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
In addition to the All-Jim Wells Team, the University of Alabama will unveil the "10 Greatest Games" in the Jim Wells era, beginning in early February. Feature stories and stats pertaining to those games will be featured on the Athletic Department website (http://www.rolltide.com/) throughout the 2004 season.
The 2004 season promises to be an exciting one at The Joe. Season tickets are now on sale by calling the Alabama Athletic Ticket Office at 205.348-2262. Season ticket packages are available for individual ($75) and groups rates ($235 for family of 4) in the reserved grandstand area. Senior citizen ticket packages are also available for $48 for the entire season.
