Natalie McElveen, from Mountain Brook, Alabama, was a walk-on in her freshman campaign this season, but has earned a full scholarship, Alabama head women’s coach Jenny Mainz announced Tuesday.
“Natalie has very much impressed me this year,” Mainz said. “She is one of the hardest workers on the team and will definitely contribute a lot to our program next year. She made up her mind to come here and make difference and she’s a positive asset. She is going to continue to improve and make an impact in our line-up next year.”
McElveen accumulated a 14-8 singles record in 2002-2003 in addition to a 13-10 doubles record. McElveen continues a family tradition of proudly representing University of Alabama athletics. Her father, Greg McElveen, played basketball under C.M. Newton in 1976-69.
