TUSCALOOSA – In the latest Golfweek rankings of collegiate golfers, University of Alabama junior Darby Sligh is the nation’s top ranked golfer.
Sligh, a native of North Augusta, S.C., captured the individual medalist honor at last week’s UA-Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate. She carded rounds of 70 and 74 en route to winning the first collegiate title of her career.
“I am very proud and excited for Darby,” said UA head coach Betty Palmer. “She worked hard over the summer and that dedication is paying off already this fall.”
The Crimson Tide women’s golf team also earned some national recognition with Bama ranking 17th in the country in the Golfweek team rankings. Alabama’s next tournament action comes at the Mercedes-Benz Invitational on Oct. 19-21 in Knoxville, Tenn.
