TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama volleyball team opens the Southeastern Conference portion of its schedule much like it did the regular season, with a road trip that includes a match against a nationally-ranked opponent. The Tide hit the road for the start of SEC play this weekend with matches against No. 3 ranked Florida (Friday) and Georgia (Sunday).
Alabama heads into conference competition riding high after capturing the tournament crown at last weekend's Crimson Tide Invitational. The Tide has won three consecutive matches and four of its last five heading into Friday night's 7:00 pm (ET) tilt with the Gators. Florida is 12-1 on the year and has won its last 12 matches. UF is also in the midst of a 114 match win streak in regular season SEC competition.
The Tide travels to Athens, Ga., on Sunday to face a 7-5 Georgia squad. Bama has won four of the last five meetings with the Bulldogs, but UGA earned a 3-1 victory last year in Tuscaloosa to snap a UA streak.
Following this weekend's action, the Crimson Tide will continue its SEC opening road swing next weekend with visits to Western Division rivals Arkansas (Oct. 3) and LSU (Oct. 5).
