TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama tennis teams held its play day on Sunday at Hillcrest High, taking the event into the Tuscaloosa community with great success.
“We had about 150 participate in the play day,” Alabama women’s head coach Jenny Mainz said. “I think it was a huge success. The fun part was that we were exposed to people in different part of town that we don’t always get to see.”
The event featured drills, contests, prizes and a special mixed doubles exhibition.
The University of Alabama women’s team will play host to one fall tournament, the Roberta Alison Fall Classic, on Oct. 3-5. Participating in the event will be individuals for Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Louisiana-Monroe, UAB, Birmingham Southern, Samford, South Alabama, Florida State and Tennessee-Chattanooga.
In addition, the Crimson Tide’s fall schedule includes the UNLV Fall Invitational in Las Vegas (Sept. 26-28), the Riveira All-American in Los Angeles, Calif (Oct. 4-12), the ITA South Regionals in Athens, Ga. (Oct. 17-20), the ITA National Indoors in Dallas, Texas (Nov. 6-8) and the SEC Fall Coaches Classic in Peach Tree City, Ga. (Nov. 7-9).
