TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama volleyball team will play the final two matches of a season-opening eight match road trip this week when the Tide visits Butler on Thursday (7 p.m.) and No. 21 Louisville (7:30 p.m. - ET) on Friday.
When this week is through the Crimson Tide will have traveled nearly 3,000 miles, played in three time zones and faced some of the nation's best teams including a trio of Top 25 squads.
This week's matches give several Alabama players the chance to play close to home. The Tide roster lists three natives of Indiana (Kory Tull, Erin Heffner, Abbi Blackburn) and with Butler located in Indianapolis there will be many familiar faces in the crowd for that match. UA Associate Head Coach Michelle Durban also began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant with Bulldog program.
Another highlight of the Butler match will be the venue where it will be played. BU's home gym is Hinkle Fieldhouse, most recognizable as the arena that the championship game was played in for the movie "Hoosiers".
The Louisville match will give Bama's "Bluegrass State" duo (Julie Farley, Kelley Potter) an opportunity to perform in front of some friendly faces.
Following this weekend's action, Alabama will conclude the pre-conference portion of its schedule with a home tournament - The Crimson Tide Invitational - on Sept. 19-20 in the CAVE.
