COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second consecutive season the University of Alabama volleyball program was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom. The Crimson Tide was one of 35 Division I volleyball teams to earn the prestigious AVCA Team Academic Award.
Alabama was the only Southeastern Conference school to garner the accolade given to squad's that maintain an overall composite GPA of 3.30 or higher for the academic year.
"We have always strived to bring the best student-athletes to our program," said UA head coach Judy Green. "This honor demonstrates the type of students we have on our team. I am very proud of their dedication and commitment to this team on the court as well as in the classroom."
Green is gearing up for her eighth season at the helm of the Crimson Tide program and will begin fall practice with her 2003 squad on Thursday morning.
