Well guys, one more day of preseason left. I bet that feels really good to hear. Since yesterday was our first scrimmage, the coaches knew exactly what we needed to improve and what the focus of our practice would be today. Today's practice was all serving and passing.
We did some butterfly drills and arm warm up to get us going. Then we did a drill where there were one hundred balls served and we counted how good the passes were. In volleyball you can pass a three, a two, a one, or a zero. A three pass means that it is a perfect pass to the setter and she can set any of the hitters. A two pass means that it is a pretty good pass but that she can only set two hitters. A one pass means that she can only set one hitter and a zero is an ace by the serving team. Our team set a goal to pass a 2.0. And even though we did not reach that goal we came very close and I believe that it was a very good start.
The next drill that we did was a server versus passer game. The passers had to get three perfect passes before the servers got two aces on them. We played that game until the end of practice. On both sides the servers won! GREAT JOB SERVERS! As we always do, we ended our practice in a team circle. In the team circle, Coach told us that we had this afternoon off and we would resume tomorrow with weights and our last two a day. Great job everyone!
On another note, today was a very exciting day for me. I got to start lifting today in the weight room with Matt. For those of you that don't know I have really bad tendonitis in my right knee from my last knee surgery. I am not able to practice with the team until i get my quad strength back up. So the more I am in the weight room and the quicker I get stronger the sooner I will get to practice with the team! :-)
