Day two of our retreat we woke up bright and early to do some reflecting and then headed to breakfast at 7:30. After we ate, we did some fun team building activities such as running through a tunnel of noodles, and afterwards we had a war with swimming noodles.
Our second activity of the day was testing our trust in each other. We had to put blindfolds on and follow our leaders' directions. We had to walk around holding a rope while walking though different terrain. We also, had to try and make a perfect square out of the rope that we were holding. And finally Heffner had to try and put all of us into the shape of a star while all of the rest of us were holding the rope; blind folded and were not allowed to talk. The next activity we had to do was the spider web. We had to get everyone across to the other side without touching the rope. We had a small crisis when Sarah stepped in an anthill and all of the ants attacked her feet, but everyone made it out ok.
For our third activity there was a block of wood that was only big enough for about three people to totally stand on and we had to find a way to fit everyone on without touching the ground. The catch was that we not only had to fit everyone on but we also had to sing row row row your boat three times through. After a few trials and errors we finally succeeded and moved on to lunch.
Our fourth and final activity was my favorite. The activity was called the Alpine Tower. The Alpine tower was three telephone poles that reached 55 feet in the air; our challenge was to climb our way to the top. We could choose either to do it solo or tandem. Kory was the first to go and she made it look so easy. I on the other hand was not so lucky. I choose to go tandem with Cus, and with me being afraid of heights, this was one of the biggest challenges of the day for me. We got about half way and Cus and I got a bit tangled and struggled to get our ropes back into place. When we finally made it to the top it was the best feeling standing on the platform looking down at the challenge we had over come. This was the perfect way to end such a great retreat.
