Today, practice began early this morning with weight lifting at 8:00 am. We lifted for about an hour, changed and jumped straight into practice. In practice, we worked on serving and passing and ended practice with a 6-on-6 game called outside hitter wash. Ohh, but the day had just begun...
Today was a special day. Our coaches arranged a trip for the team but only they knew where we were going. We loaded up the vans and headed out of the coliseum at 2:00. At 4:15, we arrived at... CAMP COSBY.
After our arrival, we got settled in and ate dinner at 5:00. Then after dinner we all changed into our bathing suits and went for a dip in the creek - just kidding - it was really a lake called Logan Martin Lake. We had a blast! Out on the lake were 2 trampolines and this big balloon called the Blob! The Blob is a long worm-shaped balloon filled with air. The blob sits out in the water and the purpose of the Blob is for one person to jump off a high platform and crawl to the end and then the next person jumps off the platform and launches the person on the end in the air and into the water. Ohh Yeah!!!
After all that fun, everyone got cleaned up and went out to make some s'mores on the campfire. Coach Green and our head manager Will had to have balled up 100 or more sheets of paper to get the fire started. Afterwards we all came in and did an activity. The coaches, players and even our trainer Mandy traced our left and right hands and then wrote down in the right the things we bring to the team and in the left we wrote things we should work on. Then we all shared aloud the things we wrote.
My favorite part was when everyone turned to the person on their right and said something good about that person. Today has been a long day full of surprises. We took care of business earlier and now are taking a "short break" to enjoy each other's company and relax. The end!
Roll Tide!
