I finally got over my soreness, but then I had my first day of weights. This was my first official day working in the weight room. I can already feel my arms becoming sore. Since Abbi Blackburn and I were not here over the summer Matt, the strength coach, is helping us to learn the lifts properly. After weights, for about 45 minutes, we had our first practice at 9. Today in practice we were just working on the basics so that we can perfect those and become a stronger team. Coach Green says that if we want to be a really competitive team this year we need to perfect the basics. I have been liking our practices because they are mainly based around defense. The coaches have been basing them around defense because if the back line breaks down then there is nothing your offense can do.
During the lunch break it was pretty crazy because all of us freshman are trying to move into our dorms. So, during our hour thirty minute break I had to do my extra conditioning, get into my dorm, find some time to eat my lunch, and then make it back for my defensive practice. It was crazy, but I managed to get it done. Our second practice went really well. The team enjoyed it because we got to SCRIMMAGE!! That is always the best. We played one game to thirty and the other team won because Erin Heffner kept drilling balls on the line. In the second game to fifteen, our team managed to come together and we won. Erin Price did an amazing job of setting for our team.
Our focus for today was on passing and defense. I can already tell that our team has improved on passing TREMENDOUSLY! If we all keep focusing and push past being tired and work hard I know that we are going to have a great season!
Roll Tide!
