Four days down and ten days of preseason to go. Just as I thought I might have a chance of flying through my first year of preseason in grace, these little muscles all throughout my body started aching every time I ran...then every time I walked...and now even as I sit here, I ache! But every aching muscle has contributed to something that I have improved or that I am improving.
Take, for example, today. We worked a lot on ball control throughout the morning session. We did lots of passing and serving and worked blocking technique. But in the afternoon practice, we REALLY worked on blocking! The thugs (aka middles) tore it up on aggressiveness...but we still have a ways to go. We did a lot of competitive drills, like the 2 on 2 half court and the Long Beach drill. Everyone played with high intensity and aggressiveness and Bibber helped wrap up practice with a hard serve to the #5 spot.
After practice we all headed down to the training room for a refreshing "dip" into the 45 degree water in a metal tub (aka, whirlpool) which helps prevent muscle soreness. Then we all headed to TCBY for a nice team treat, rocky road ice-cream...yum!
So as the day comes to an end, I realize that through all the aches, blisters, and bruises, I'm having a BLAST!
ROLL TIDE!
