So today was our second day of two-a-days, and all I can say is WHEW! We are a group of very tired girls, but we're getting better and better after each practice. This morning got off to a great start with that's right, you guessed it...BALL CONTROL. Later we split up by positions into station work. Outside hitters rule! The defensive specialists and the setters were together, and the thugs (a.k.a. middle hitters) were together. Afterwards we worked on the middles hitting off a live set. Way to crush that ball girls! We played my favorite serving game ever, which is a volleyball adaptation of HORSE. The morning ended on a fun, competitive game and my side won!! After practice, we all ate McAllister's and went to our respective homes.
We had a 2 1/2 hour break to eat and rest. I think everyone slept, or at least tried to. We managed to drag ourselves out of bed and back to the C.A.V.E. for session 2, and what's the first drill of the day? Oh yes, the dreaded Columbus 5-on-5. However, those power naps that everyone took must have worked, because we killed that game! Way to go girls! The rest of the afternoon was spent working on defensive and blocking footwork. We ended practice on a team drill that brought out our competitive spirits. After a lot of technical work, just getting out there and playing really helps to fire us up. Three days of preseason down and 10 more to go!
ROLL TIDE!
