The University of Alabama's All-American sprinter, LaTonel Williams, finished in sixth place with his second fastest time of the season in the men's 200-meter dash at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, California.
Williams posted a time of 20.78 seconds in the final round of the 200, which was .31 of a second behind the champion, Leo Bookman of the University of Kansas. Williams' time of 20.78 was just .02 of a second slower than his best time of the season which was posted in the semifinals. Williams also competed in the men's 100-meter dash and advanced to the semifinals, but his time of 10.51 could not propel him into the finals.
Williams, an All-American last year in the men's 400-meter relay, has received the honor again this year in the 200.
Alabama finished tied for 57th with eight other teams in the championships, while Arkansas went on to take the overall title.
