
Bama Women's Golf Finishes Play at Liz Murphy Classic

Athens, Ga.-- The University of Alabama women's golf team shot a final round of 319 on Sunday at the 31st annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of Georgia.
The Crimson Tide ended the three-day event with a tournament total of 937 finishing in 15th-place of the nationally competitive field. Sophomore Darby Sligh was Bama's low finisher on the weekend earning her third Top 5 individual showing of the year.
"As a team we just could never seem to get things going on Sunday," said UA head coach Betty Palmer. "I'm proud of Darby and her play this weekend. She played consistent for three rounds and earned a strong finish."
Sligh, the Tide's stroke average leader for the season, carded a final round 75 en route to a three-over-par finish of 219. Her play earned her a tie for fourth place in the individual competition and marked her second consecutive Top Five finish.
The other scoring rounds for Alabama on Sunday came from Jenny Bouvin (77), Carina Sorensen (83) and Mandy Tedder (84). Anna Strandberg posted a final round of 88.
Bouvin finished the event tied for 53rd at 234, Tedder was tied for 80th at 244, Sorensen finished 83rd at 245 and Strandberg finished 84th at 246.
Top-ranked Duke captured the team competition at 876. The Blue Devils led the tournament wire-to-wire and outdistanced runner-up Ohio State (887) by nine strokes. Florida and Wake Forest tied for third at 891 and Auburn rounded out the Top 5 teams with a score of 892.
The Tide will have two weeks of preparation for the regular season finale, the Southeastern Conference Championship on April 18-20 in Lexington, Ky.
