The University of Alabama women’s soccer team closed out one of its most impressive spring seasons in memory over the weekend as the Tide dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker to the Ole Miss Rebels before defeating the South Alabama Jaguars 2-1.
In Bama’s Saturday match up against Ole Miss, Lindsey Beckham hit a shot from approximately 50 yards out off a restart with 26 seconds left in the match to claim victory for the Rebels.
The Crimson Tide rebounded the next day with Katie French getting things started off a successful penalty kick for a 1-0 lead of the Jaguars. USA tied it at 1-1 in the second half but with nearly 10 minutes remaining in the match, Dawn Nash took a pass from Leigh Alexander and put a header in the back of the net for the final 2-1 score.
“The entire spring season was a success,” said Alabama Head Coach Don Staley. “The offense was there each and every match and Laura Lowman gave us one great performance after another all season.”
Alabama finished the spring season with a 14-2-2 record.
