Bama Women's Tennis to Host Kentucky and Vanderbilt

The 21st ranked University of Alabama women's tennis team will host the 15th ranked Kentucky Wildcats on Friday at 3 p.m. The Crimson Tide then faces the 10th ranked Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Alabama (15-4, 5-3 SEC) is coming off a 6-1 win over South Carolina last Sunday. The Crimson Tide's Millie Begovic is ranked 103rd in singles and 53rd in doubles with teammate Robin Stephenson.
"We have a lot of momentum," UA head coach Jenny Mainz said. "We gained some confidence on Sunday with the win over South Carolina."
Kentucky (16-6, 6-2) has two ranked singles players in Sarah Witten (49th) and Nathalie Roels (101st). The Wildcats also have three ranked doubles combinations. Witten and Roels are ranked 7th in doubles, Witten and Amy Trefethen are 8th , and Trefethen and Jill Buckley are 19th.
"I have respect for Kentucky because they turn it up when it counts," Mainz said. "Kentucky is very solid and plays good doubles."
Vanderbilt (15-3, 6-2) will face Auburn on Friday before coming to Tuscaloosa to face the Crimson Tide. The Commodores Sarah Riske is ranked 11th in singles, Aleke Tsoubanos is 62nd and Ashley Schellhas is 96th. Riske and Tsoubanos are also ranked No. 1 in the doubles rankings while Kelly Schmandt and Audra Falk are ranked 26th.
"Vanderbilt is a great team who beat Florida earlier in the year," Mainz said. "It's a great opportunity to compete against Kentucky and Vanderbilt at home on parents' weekend."
Those planning to attend the matches will need to enter the UA Varsity Courts from the Aquatic Center side, as there will be construction by the entrance close to the Alabama Football Complex. In the case of inclement weather, the match will be moved the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
