The No. 15 Alabama men's tennis team (11-2, 1-2 SEC) fell victim to Tennessee (7-4, 1-2 SEC) in Knoxville Friday as the Vols reeled off four straight singles wins, taking the match 4-1.
The only bright spot of the day for Alabama came in doubles play to open the match. At No. 3 Chris Gostek and William Boyles dominated their match, putting away the Vols duo in a quick 8-2 match. Bama's Bradley Friedman and Stephen Mitchell secured the doubles point with an 8-5 win over the 37th-ranked pair of Mark Henderson and Simon Rea.
"It was a really disappointing day, we didn't come out with any intensity at all," Alabama head coach Billy Pate said. "We have to find a way now to focus on Sunday's match with Georgia and come out of it with a win."
The Crimson Tide hosts Georgia Sunday at 1 p.m. at the outdoor Varsity Courts, adjacent to the football practice fields. Admission to Sunday's match is free of charge.
