The University of Alabama soccer team upped its record to 8-0-1 on the spring season after running roughshod through the field defeating the Warrior Soccer Club 4-0, the GSA Phoenix Soccer Club 6-0 and Shelton State 7-0 this past weekend in Tuscaloosa.
Laura Lowman collected all three shutouts for the Crimson Tide and was even able to contribute in the scoring against Shelton State. According to the coaching staff, Lauren Imwalle, Jiselle Decker and newcomer to the backline Sara Haight, were extremely instrumental in the shutdown of the opposing offensive attacks.
Offensively, the entire Alabama team got into the act, spreading the scoring wealth throughout the day, tallying 17 goals.
“This was a good building block to start from and it should help prepare us for this weekend,” said Alabama assistant coach Chase Wooten. “We were able to get the rust off and get in some good prep work for the upcoming 11-aside tournament.”
The Crimson Tide will be in action this weekend as the team hosts the Hampton Inn Classic 11v11 tournament.
