TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama 's athletic compliance office has implemented a compliance website (www.rolltide.com/Compliance), which will go "live" on Monday, March 24, 2003.
The new site will provide comprehensive compliance information and make it readily available to UA coaches, staff and supporters. The site is part of a rules education program under the direction of associate athletics director Chris King which was developed as a plan of action to ensure that Alabama's athletic department is in total compliance with all NCAA and SEC rules and regulations.
"This plan, approved and encouraged by Athletics Director Mal Moore, applies to everyone employed by The University," King said, "and those who support the institution as well. The primary goal is to continue to develop a proactive management style that will be in place to guide the athletics department and University in its future growth.
"An internal rules education program has been implemented to provide all coaches and athletic staff with a comprehensive working knowledge of UA, SEC and NCAA rules and regulations. Education is the foundation of the athletics compliance program and all staff must make a regular and ongoing effort to remain updated on the changes in governing regulations," King added.
The NCAA views a strong, ongoing rules education program as essential to maintaining rules compliance as an institutional priority as well as a necessary element of institutional control. Rules education for coaches and administrative staff is a year-round responsibility.
The site also contains links to official sites pertaining to the NCAA Clearinghouse, Initial-Eligibility Standards, Gambling and Sports Wagering, Sports Agents, Eligibility and Recruiting, Southeastern Conference (SEC), National Letter of Intent, State of Alabama Athlete Agent & Registration Site, UA Admissions Office, Financial Aid and others.
The athletic compliance office continues to stress the motto of "Ask Before You Act" to all boosters, alumni, and friends of UA.
