Women's Basketball Game Notes: at Arkansas

The University of Alabama women’s basketball team looks to close the season on a winning note when they visit Arkansas on Sunday in the regular season finale for both squads. The Tide earned a win over archrival Auburn on Thursday night in their last home game of the year.
Alabama has enjoyed some success late in the year with wins in 2 of their last 3. UA’s only loss was in double overtime versus Kentucky... Arkansas has dropped its last 4 games and is just 3-7 since upsetting then #2 LSU on Jan. 19.
The First Time Around — Arkansas scored a come-from-behind 59-58 victory on Feb. 2 thanks to a desperation three-pointer by India Lewis with under one second to play. The trey was Lewis’ lone bucket of the contest. Monique Bivins led the Tide attack scoring 15 points (with 5 treys) followed by 10 points from Beth Vice and Jamilah Johns. Shameka Christon was the leading Lady ‘Back scorer finishing the game with 18 points. Dana Cherry posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
BAMA-ARKANSAS SERIES NOTEBOOK
This is the 17th all-time meeting between the Tide and Lady Razorbacks. The pair first met in 1980, and have met every season since 1992. (see p.2 for complete series game results)
The Crimson Tide owns a slight 9-7 edge in the all-time match-up including a 3-4 in Fayetteville.
Alabama’s Rick Moody is 8-6 all-time against Arkansas and 6-6 versus Lady ‘Back head coach Gary Blair.
Arkansas as won the last 2 meetings in nail-biter fashion including a 59-58 victory in Tuscaloosa (Feb. 2) on a trey by India Lewis with under a second to play.
Bama assistant coach Brittney Ezell enjoyed a career night against Arkansas on 1/11/98. Ezell scored a personal best 29 points and matched the school record with 8 treys in the game.
In last year’s game in Fayetteville, the Tide’s Beth Vice hit 6 of 9 treys tries in helping Bama to an 84-70 win.
