The University of Alabama women's tennis team (11-3, 3-2 SEC) went on the road for an all-important Southeastern Conference victory over Mississippi State (6-8, 0-5 SEC) in Starkville on Friday, notching a decisive 6-1 win.
Alabama won in convincing fashion, scoring straight-set victories in No. 1-5 singles as well as capturing the doubles point.
"Our team really stepped up. We played the bigger points well today," Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz said. "There were a couple of pivotal points and I think we stepped up and played them very aggressively.
"Mississippi State played well and fought really hard against us. It came down to us stepping up and playing with authority on the big points. Hopefully we can carry that into Sunday's match with Ole Miss."
