TIDE HOSTS STRONG CAROLINA SQUAD
The level of competition for the Alabama women's basketball team doesn't get any easier as the Tide welcomes No. 16 South Carolina to town on Sunday afternoon. The USC game marks Bama's seventh overall and fourth consecutive game versus a ranked opponent. Carolina enter's Sunday's tilt looking to rebound from their near upset of No. 4 LSU this past Thursday.
*The Tide has dropped 8 of their last 9 (including 3 straight home games). South Carolina had their two game win streak halted by LSU.
*Sunday's game features the top two rebounders in the SEC — USC's Petra Ujhelyi at 9.0 rpg and UA's Jamilah Johns at 8.5 rpg.
*South Carolina's Jocelyn Penn leads the SEC and ranks 4th in the country in scoring at 25.0 ppg.
*Alabama continues to be the SEC leader in 3-pointers a game averaging over 7 made treys per contest.
BAMA-USC SERIES NOTEBOOK
*This is the 18th all-time meeting between the Tide and Gamecocks. The pair first met in 1979, and have met every season since 1992. (see p.2 for complete series game results)
*The Crimson Tide holds a 12-5 lead in the all-time series with two of South Carolina's wins coming the past two years.
*Alabama's Rick Moody is 11-2 all-time against Carolina and 5-2 versus USC head coach Susan Walvius.
*South Carolina has captured the last two meetings with UA's last win a 69-67 decision in Columbia during the 1999-2000 season.
*Bama and Carolina faced each other in the first round of the 1988 NCAA Tournament at the Midwest Regional played in Columbia. USC earned a 77-63 victory in that matchup.
