TIDE HOSTS AUBURN ON SENIOR DAY
The University of Alabama women's basketball team hosts in-state rival Auburn in the team's home finale for this year. Prior to the game, Alabama's trio of seniors — Beth Vice, Shun Hunter & Jamilah Johns — will be honored in a ceremony. The game marks the second meeting of the season between UA and AU.
*Both teams are coming off heartbreaking last-second losses in their last contests with the Tide falling in double overtime to Kentucky (73-71) and Auburn losing by one at South Carolina (65-64).
*The First Time Around — Auburn earned a 65-61 victory over the Tide on Jan. 19 down on the Plains. In the game, AU's Natasha Brackett scored a career best 30 points in helping the Tigers to the victory. Auburn also benefited from a 29-13 advantage in FTs attempted in the contest.
*UA Senior Day Facts: The Tide is 22-6 (78.6%) in their regular season home finales... Bama is also 11-2 under Rick Moody on Senior day including last year's 82-73 upset of LSU.
BAMA-AUBURN SERIES NOTEBOOK
*This is the 56th all-time meeting between the Tide and Tigers. The pair first met in 1975, and have met every season since. (see p.2 for complete series game results)
*The Crimson Tide owns a slight 29-26 advantage in the series including having won 11 of the last 15 meetings... UA head coach Rick Moody is 16-9 all-time against his in-state rivals.
*Alabama is 17-5 against Auburn in Coleman Coliseum with the Tide having earned victories in the last two games... The Tigers last win in T'town was a 69-59 victory on Feb. 13, 2000.
*Crimson Tide junior guard Manisha Redus and Auburn junior center Mandisa Stevenson were prep teammates at Decatur (AL) High School. The pair helped lead DHS to a perfect 34-0 recond and a 6A State Championship during their senior season.
*Auburn is looking for their first regular season sweep of the Tide since the 1999-2000 campaign.
