TUSCALOOSA – The University of Alabama volleyball team held its annual postseason reception on Saturday afternoon to honor the accomplishments of the 2002 season. The Crimson Tide finished 19-15 this year and earned the program’s fourth consecutive winning season.
Following an hors d’oeuvre meal, Alabama head coach Judy Green recognized the success of the 2002 Tide team and also presented the team’s individual awards. Sophomore Kenna Milner earned the “Most Improved” player award while fellow sophomore Kory Tull was named the winner of the “MTXE” (Mental Toughness Xtra Effort) award.
Two-time All-SEC sophomore Erin Heffner garnered the “Coaches Award” while senior Shelly Adamick was honored with the “Academic Excellence” award for posting the team’s highest GPA for the year, a 4.0 in Criminal Justice. Milner and senior Bridget Studnicka were chosen the permanent captains for the 2002 campaign.
In addition to the meal, guests at the event were also treated to an action-packed video recap of the season on the court as well as an entertaining video annual of highlights from off the court compiled by UA junior Erin Price.
Alabama’s nine returning players are in the midst of spring season practice and will begin their spring season tournament schedule in March.
