Western Kentucky Knocks Off Winthrop at Bama Bash!

Western Kentucky (1-2) picked up its first victory of the season in game five of the 2003 Bama Bash! with a 7-3 victory over Winthrop (0-3).
After Winthrop tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Hilltoppers exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth to take a 7-1 lead.
Shelly Floyd led Western Kentucky with three hits including a triple. Dana Rey drove in two runs for the Hilltoppers.
Katy Agee and Kjersti Johnson provided offensive highlights for the Eagles by hitting back-to-back homeruns in the bottom of the sixth to try to spark a Winthrop comeback.
Adrienne Lathrop picked up the victory for Western Kentucky, improving her record to 1-1. Kelli Johnson took the loss for Winthrop, dropping her record to 0-2.
Western Kentucky will face the loser of the Alabama/Southern Illinois game at approximately 6:30 tonight. Winthrop will face the winner of the Alabama/Southern Illinois game at approximately 4:00 p.m.
