Alabama's Bassham Sweeps Diving Against Auburn

University of Alabama senior All-American Lane Bassham continued her winning ways, sweeping the one and three-meter boards against in-state rival Auburn.
The victory nudged her 2003-04 season streak up to six wins in three outings. She took the one-meter competition by more than 20 points, posting a 294.97. Off the three-meter board, Bassham scored 308.25, winning by over 19 points.
In the end though, Auburn came out on top of both meets with the women falling 134-92 and the men losing 149-77. Both Alabama squads go to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Southeastern Conference.
Freshman sensation Arlene Semeco swam her fastest time of the season in the 50 freestyle, posting a 23.32, making her the sixth fastest 50 freestyler in Alabama history. She raced to a 50.78 in the 100 freestyle, making her the 10th fastest Crimson Tide athlete in that event.
The nights most exciting event of the night was the first individual race when Alabama sophomore J.T. Jones and Auburn junior Nate Knopf battled down to the last inch in the 1000 freestyle with Jones coming up just short, posting a 9:18.21 to Knopf's 9:18.07. Jones' shaved eight seconds off his season best coming into the night.
Alabama takes a break from the dual meet season for its next meet, traveling to Athens, Ga. for the annual UGA Invitational December 5-7.
