TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama men's basketball team plays its home opener on Friday night. Alabama is playing Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance through the Athletic Ticket Box Office in Coleman Coliseum or by calling 1-800-TIDETIX. Alabama home game tickets are also available for purchase on the internet on Alabama's website www.rolltide.com.
Alabama is 0-1. The Tide played No. 22 Pittsburgh on November 14th in its season opener in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in Madison Square Garden. Friday night's game is the season opener for Louisiana Tech.
"It's going to be a dangerous game for us," said Alabama head coach Mark Gottfried whose Alabama teams are 52-9 at home since he arrived, including the school record 17-0 home mark in 2002. "Louisiana Tech has some very good newcomers from the junior college ranks who are as talented as anybody."
Alabama and Louisiana Tech are playing one another for only the third time ever. Alabama leads the series 3-0 with wins in 1958, 1967 and 1983. Alabama is 35-1 in home openers since moving into Coleman Coliseum in February 1968 and hasn't lost a home opener in nine years, dating to a loss to Chattanooga in 1993.
The game marks the beginning of a busy eight days for Alabama. Following Friday night's Louisiana Tech game, it remains at home to host Southeast Louisiana on Tuesday, November 25 at 7 p.m. and then hits the road for a November 29th date at Providence.
