TUSCALOOSA - The White team beat the Crimson Team 70-62 in an intra-squad scrimmage tonight at Coleman Coliseum held by the University of Alabama men's basketball team.
Sophomore forward Kennedy Winston led all scorers with 23 points for the White team and sophomore forward Chuck Davis led the Crimson with 19 points and seven rebounds. Winston also had seven boards.
The White team was also led by junior guard Earnest Shelton who scored 21 points on eight-of-15 shooting and senior point guard Antoine Pettway with 12 points. Freshman forward Akini Adkins scored 11.
Freshman forward Jemareo Davidson had 17 points and six rebounds for the Crimson team and sophomore forward Evan Brock added 12 points and four boards.
Alabama Head Coach Mark Gottfried was pleased with the team's performance, but says there is still room for improvement.
"We're not a very good team right now," Gottfried said. "Some good things happened tonight, but we've got a long way to go. We've got to keep working. I like how our team passes the ball, hopefully that can be a strength of our team this year. It was good for us to have an intra-squad game this year."
The Crimson Tide will be back in action next Saturday night at 6 p.m. when Alabama takes on Global Sports in an exhibition game at Coleman Coliseum.
