TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama volleyball team plays the first of its eight home Southeastern Conference matches this weekend when the Tide welcomes Georgia and No. 3 Florida to the CAVE.
The two contests against the SEC Eastern Division foes mark rematches of Alabama's SEC opening weekend of play. In the earlier meetings, the nationally-ranked Gators handed the Tide a 3-0 loss as part of Florida's current 16 match win streak that includes 15 consecutive three-game sweeps. Against Georgia, Alabama earned a hard fought 3-2 victory featuring an impressive 15-5 win in the fifth game.
Both matches will be broadcast live on radio and the internet by WVUA, New Rock 90.7 FM (www.newrock907.com). Fans unable to attend the matches can also follow via live scoring on the internet at the Alabama Athletics home page, www.rolltide.com.
Sunday's match with Florida has been designated as "Jam the Gym" day with the Tide attempting to establish a new single match attendance record. The current mark is 553, set on Nov. 9, 1999 in a match against Auburn.
