DESTIN, Fla. - The University of Alabama women's golf team carded a second straight round of 305 on Saturday in day two action at the Chrysler ACC/SEC Women's Golf Challenge.
The Tide slipped from sixth to seventh place following second round action at the Florida State hosted event being held at the Raven Course of the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
Junior Darby Sligh shot a two-over-par 73 on Saturday to again lead the Alabama lineup. Sligh is in ninth place with a two-day 143 heading into Sunday's final 18 holes. Freshman Amy Middleton fired her second consecutive 75 joining Sligh in the Top 20 of the individual competition in a tie for 18th.
"We continue to be right on the verge of shooting a very low number," said UA head coach Betty Palmer. "We keep just having those few shots that end up costing us a good round. This group is determined to keep working and I believe that we are going to get through this little obstacle and be in real good shape."
Others competing for the Crimson Tide at the ACC/SEC Challenge include Megan George 76 (153, T-24th), Anna Strandberg 83 (164, 56th) and Mandy Tedder 86 (173, 60th).
Duke, the number one ranked team in the nation, continued to dominate the team competition owning a 32 stroke advantage over the field following their second day of 276.
