University of Alabama Names Homecoming Queen

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - At halftime of today's Alabama-Southern Miss football game, the 2003 Homecoming Queen was crowned by the President of the University of Alabama.
The 2003 Homecoming Queen is Maury Wilkinson. The daughter of Michael and Barbara Wilkinson was crowned by University of Alabama President, Dr. Robert E. Witt and Lauren Tagg, the 2002 Homecoming Queen. Wilkinson is a native of Clinton, Miss. and was sponsored by Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.
In addition to Wilkinson there were four additional members of the homecoming court. Angela Johnson, a senior marketing major, was sponsored by the Student Athletic Advisory Board. A member of the Crimson Tide softball team, she is the daughter of Steve and Rosemary Johnson of Birmingham, Ala.
Elizabeth Dees, a senior majoring in English, was sponsored by the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She is the daughter of J. Anthony and Helen Dees of Mobile, Ala. LaShondra Nicole Jones, a senior international finance major, was sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She is the daughter of Charles and Annie Jones of Birmingham, Ala. Amy Ridgeway, a senior elementary education major, was sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is the daughter of Billie and Maudie Ridgeway of Huxford, Ala.
Former Crimson Tide All-American Jeremiah Castille served as Grand Marshall of the Homecoming Festivities. The Homecoming Chairperson was Chris Crutchfield. The Capstone College of Nursing won the parade competition while Delta Zeta sorority won the Spirit Cup.
