After advancing two teams into the final four of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Regionals on Sunday, both sets of Crimson Tide doubles teams dropped their semifinal matches, ending a tremendous run.
“Overall I’m very pleased with our performance in the regional,” Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz said. “To make it to the fourth day of the tournament took tremendous effort and I’m proud of our showing.”
Robin Stephenson and Ashley Bentley fell to South Florida’s Marie-France Lord-Andrade and Gabriela Duch, 8-6, while Melissa Minor and Nathalie Koppelle lost to Georgia’s Agata Cioroch and Shadisha Robinson, 8-1. Lord-Andrade transferred to South Florida from Alabama last season.
