TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama volleyball team will conclude its four-match road swing to open Southeastern Conference play this weekend with a pair of matches against Western Division rivals Arkansas and LSU.
The Crimson Tide picked up an impressive road victory last Sunday over Georgia to earn a split in their opening weekend of league play.
Arkansas was picked in the preseason to win the SEC Western Division title in a vote of the league coaches with Alabama right behind in second. Bama is looking for its first ever victory in Fayetteville (0-10). The Tide-Lady Razorback match is being televised by Fox Sports Net and will be shown on a tape delay basis on Sunday at Noon (CT).
LSU and Alabama have enjoyed a highly competitive series the past three seasons. The series is knotted at 4-4 over that span including last seasons home-and-home split. In 2000, Alabama swept the regular season series only to see LSU upset the Tide in the SEC Tournament. The 2001 season saw Bama return the favor by posting an SEC Tourney victory after dropping both matches in the regular season.
Following this weekend's action Alabama returns home on Oct. 10 to face Georgia in a rematch of last week's five-game battle.
